Robert Song's Running

I'm over 50 and been running off and on since 1968. I have run everything from 800m to 10k on the track, to half marathons (PB 1:21 Brisbane 1993) and marathons (PB 2:53 Gold Coast 1985).

Sunday 25k @HR 149 Pace 5:21

25.0k 2:13:49. HR Avg 149 Max 161 Avg Pace 5:21
Course: Home to Bowen Bridge and Back.
Start Time: 4:10 pm Temp 21C.
Session Type: Long Run

Today I just didn't feel like getting up early and doing my long run, so slept in till 8:00am and planned to run this afternoon. When the temperature got up to 27C through the day this didn't look like such a good decision.

By 4:00pm it was down to 21C, but it is still barmy for winter. I just wanted to go easy today and would have been happy to just chug along at HR135. But I couldn't seem to get any lower than HR 145 though it still seemed easy. Got to the turn around in 64:31 (Avg HR 148). At this point it was obvious I was going to be running out of light before I got home. So I kept the pace up while I could. My left hip started to get a bit sore and tense. By the time I got to the Marist fields it was dark and had to slow down a little making my way around Valleys Cricket Club. From St John Wood, I took Waterworks Rd back to home rather than use the unlit bike path. Back in 69:17 (HR 150), for an all up time of 2:13:49. It may have been 41 seconds faster than last week but I am not feeling in as good a state as last week.

66.6 K for the week. (Is that an Omen?)
