Robert Song's Running

I'm over 50 and been running off and on since 1968. I have run everything from 800m to 10k on the track, to half marathons (PB 1:21 Brisbane 1993) and marathons (PB 2:53 Gold Coast 1985).

Password Fatigue & The Foghat Principle

It has been a while since my last post. I have been making steady progress back to full training and last week built up to 85.6k for the week. So I am not far off now. The right hammie has given me no trouble and I feel confident that it has made a complete recovery. I now will start to up the pace a bit more.

In the mean time my left hip and upper leg have been giving me intermittent problems but never when I am running. I think it is referred pain from my back and it seems worse after lying down or twisting my back like when bowling a cricket ball. As I say it has so far not troubled me at all whilst running. Will be interested to see how it reacts to some more intense efforts.

Here was last weeks sessions.

I was interested to see that Password Fatigue was been officially added to the vernacular.

This noun means the level of frustration caused by having too many different passwords to remember, resulting in an inability to remember even those most commonly used.

At work, I certainly had a lot of different systems and applications that all had passwords which expired at different times leaving me with a whole range of IDs and passwords. It was not uncommon for me to have to enter a password 20 to 30 times a day. I turned this into a goal setting plus by always selecting passwords that directly related to my current running goals. For example, for the last three months of the last year all my passwords pointed to my target of doing 400k in December. Before that they related to the Melbourne Marathon. So every working day I was able to repeatedly reinforce my goals by entering my passwords.

Now that I am on leave, it has left a bit of a hole in my goal setting. So am thinking of putting a password on my home computer just so I get to the same effect.

Does anyone know the Foghat Rule?

That's what I've been doing wrong... failing to bow my guitar!

I can think of a few passwords - Hadd Rules; Keep the faith; Hammy be good.

Could be a cool Canberra. Feb was the first Feb for X number (can't remember exactly) of years when the max temp stayed under 30C all month.

Thanks for the comment re Hadd and speed. I agree it's a particular problem for runners on the upside of 40.

Good to hear that the training is going so well.

When one system tels me my password is due to expire I change them all at the same time and use the same password.

Most of my passwords are the same. All it would take is a Chinese burn and one could log on to most of the applications we have to use at work .... and clean out all my back accounts.

    Luv the vid!

And a CR bloggers punch in the guts would be enough to have you clean out your bank accounts Tesso.

Man, for someone who is coming back from a niggle, you're doing some serious k's! You're doing more than me by a long way and I haven't had any injury woes.

Added to password fatigue, I hate systems that force a change and won't let you use any of your previous 3!
