Robert Song's Running

I'm over 50 and been running off and on since 1968. I have run everything from 800m to 10k on the track, to half marathons (PB 1:21 Brisbane 1993) and marathons (PB 2:53 Gold Coast 1985).

Revisiting an old friend.

9.4k 45:00. HR Avg 162 Max 178
Course: Home along Waterworks Rd to Jubliee Tce and Back.
Start Time: 8:30am Temp 25C.
Session Type: Stamina Run

A Public Holiday today, so I ran this morning. I haven't run this course for well over 10 years. Used to run it at least 2 or 3 times a week once it was dark after work. Its best feature apart from the well lit footpaths, is the six uphill sections which make it quite tough. My fastest time for this course was 38:29.

After an easy time recovering last week, it is good to start my anaerobic stamina training for the Gold Coast Half.

Yes, Robert, I know the original lyrics, but had to 'spring' into 'winter' as we're in the southern hemisphere & it sure was like winter here!

To celebrate 1st May, we watched a clip form "Words & Music", featuring Perry Como & Allyn Ann McLerie singing " Mountain Greenery" with a huge MGM chorus!

Do you know the second verse? Here it is anyway! :

    "Simple cooking means
    More than French cuisines.
I've a banquet planned which is
    Sandwiches and beans.
    Coffee's just as grand
    With a little sand.
Eat and you'll grow fatter, boy,
    S'matter, boy?
    "Atta boy!"
