Robert Song's Running

I'm over 50 and been running off and on since 1968. I have run everything from 800m to 10k on the track, to half marathons (PB 1:21 Brisbane 1993) and marathons (PB 2:53 Gold Coast 1985).

Money is too tight to mention

14.5k 1:08:09. HR Avg 148 Max 158 Avg Pace 4:42
Course: Work to Riverside and Back.
Start Time: 5:50 pm Temp 19C.
Session Type: Sub Lactate Threshold Run

Starting to introduce some more solid aerobic runs into the program. The legs seem to be holding up well this week to the extra effort. Tonight out in 34:01 (144) and back in 34:08(153).

I realy need to get a long long run in this weekend, and still haven't decided whether to combine it with Doomben Half on Sunday. $52 seems a lot for a slow run.

    Nice solid run there.

I'm was in two minds about Doomben. But Phil & Di work such hard for the Brisbane running community, I think I'll show my support by running the half.

Its always a fun morning out. And Speedygeoff wil be there.

    $52 / 21.1 Km = $2.46 per km.

Whilst $2 is always good value, anything under $3 is worth considering.

Race the Rattler is $1.67 but doesn't take into account travel expenses.

Catch the train to doomben and with all things considered it will prove a smart investment.

the slower you go, the cheaper the hourly rate, so no worries!

alternatively, i just did the SMH half in Sydney as a training run and did ~12-13k beforehand. I couldn't get an entry fee so i went in it anyway made a donation to someone going to NY marathon raising money. you can pick your own fee and be guilt free that way. (almost)

    Good Hadd-like upper aerobic run.

Thanks for the link to Hadd's posts in that consolidated Word doc. I have previously seen his work, read it, digested it, trained to it, succeeded with it, worshipped at it's altar. But with sub-par marathons last season, and the start of the next build-up phase looming, it was very timely to be reminded of this document.

Toasty beat me to it. Over $2 is stretching the boundaries a tad... except for spectacular events like SMH and C2S.

You could always be a running spectator.
