21.1k 1:54:40 (HR 170 Pace 5:26)
After being able to knock out a run with a pace under 5k on Thursday and being able to comfortably run at 2 hour Half Marathon Pace for 14.5k on Tuesday, I was confident I could go sub 2 hour for the Half on Sunday. But how far under was the question. Well the answer was 1:54:40 and I am very happy with that time.
It even felt like a proper race. Contained myself early and didn't go out too fast, settled into a nice rhythm at around 5:20 pace which I held up until the 16k mark. I then had to dig in, concentrate more on style and start working harder to maintain that pace. The combination of the humidity and the climb up and over the Green Bridge at 18k sapped all my spare reserves and it was a real struggle to just do 5:45 pace to the finish line. Totally knackered afterwards.
If I can stay healthy, the next few months should be one of those golden periods when every time you step up to the start line you improve on your last race. Although I don't know how long I will be able to maintain an improvement rate of 14 minute in a Half time in three weeks.
I am looking forward now to going from a back of the pack racer to a middle of the pack racer.

Couldn't ask for much more than that improvement Robert Song. You must be stoked!
Just how far can you come back? You must be salivating at the chance to regain your past times.
Great news.

Nice race Graham. That's well under the 2 hour goal. Another 14 minutes and you're 'front of the middle'. Good stuff!

Brilliant! That is a great run Graham. That climb up onto the bridge certainly is a challenge.

Awesome Graham! If only we could all knock 14 minutes off a half time (even after more than 3 weeks)!
